Will God?

by Yewande Olamiju

I know God can……but will He?

You’ve read and heard of the great miracles God has done in the lives of His people. You believe God is able but are doubting if He will. You know He can move mountains, heal the sick but wonder if, for you, He will. The question in your heart isn’t “Can God?” but “Will God?” You aren’t doubting God’s ability but His willingness.

Can God? Yes, He can. Will He? Yes.

A leper in Matthew 8 found this to be true.   Continue reading

As It Was in the Days of Noah: Selective Dyslexia or Collective Amnesia?

As I pondered on several news items on the headlines all around the world, several things cascaded through my mind each trying to take centre stage. Yet, this scripture came to mind as Jesus was being asked in the days of yore, “What would be the signs of Your coming?”

“The Arrival of the Son of Man will take place in times like Noah’s. Before the great flood everyone was carrying on as usual, having a good time right up to the day Noah boarded the ark. They knew nothing—until the flood hit and swept everything away (Matthew 24:37-39 The Message (MSG) Continue reading

Does the Holy Spirit Have Moods?

by Omolola Oriogun

While in my living room with some of my friends; we were chatting, shouting on top of our voices, laughing, enjoying ourselves and a movie was playing. I discovered that even with the loud din, a particular friend was totally out of our world. She wasn’t aware of all we were doing and that bothered me so much.

I called her attention back to the present, with a dull, angry face, she looked at me and said, ‘I’m not just in the mood to talk or do anything jare’. After excusing her from the whole frenzy, I thought to myself, if human beings have good or bad moods, ‘does the Holy Spirit have moods too?’ Continue reading

When We Worry

by Yewande Olamiju

You’re unemployed and have no assets to liquidate. There has been no cash inflow for some months now and you have yet another bill to pay. The bills haven’t stopped coming in just because you’re strapped for cash. It’s also in this dry time that your car or household equipment that was previously working fine while you had cash to spare, waste or mismanage has decided to stop working.   Continue reading

God’s Recall Notice

Adapted from John McTernan

Ezekiel 36:25-27 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Urgent Recall Notice

The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart. This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code-named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units.

This defect has been identified as “Sub-sequential Internal Non-morality,” more commonly known as “S.I.N.”, as it is primarily expressed.

Some of the symptoms include: Continue reading

Praying to Receive

by Omolola Oriogun

When we wonder “how should I pray”, we seldom look to the Bible for guidance. The truth, however, is that the Bible is packed with praying people, and we can learn much from their examples.

Sometimes, we have to dig through Scripture for models. We don’t always find an obvious tip-off, such as, “LORD, teach us to pray…” Luke 11:1. but instead, we can look for strengths and situations. Many Bible figures showed courage and faith, but others found themselves in situations that brought out qualities they didn’t know they had, just as your situation can do today.     Continue reading

Aargh, My Painting Fell Off Again

by Yewande Olamiju

If a nail isn’t hammered in properly into the wall, whatever we hang on it comes falling down like Humpty Dumpty. Big loss if it’s a painting worth half a million dollars. Bigger loss if it’s the word of God we heard but didn’t understand and lose to the birds of the air, the wicked one (Matt 13:19).

The parable of the sower tells of sown seed that fell where there wasn’t enough dirt, sown seed that fell among thorns, sown seed that fell by the wayside; only a few fell in good soil and brought forth fruit. (Matt 13:1-9, 18-23).   Continue reading

Life Lessons from the Parable of the Talents

By God’s Icon

As Believers, we must be attuned intermittently to the truth that one day when all of our time on earth is done, we all as pilgrims would stand before the God of heaven and earth and give stewardship of our times here on earth.

In our study, we’d find that the parable of the talent brings to light several key points that point us in the direction of what to expect as the return of the King draws nigh.

Let’s examine the scripture from Matt 25 vs. 14 through to 30 critically. Continue reading

The Good Christian Life

by Omolola Oriogun

What does it mean to live a good Christian life? Living a good Christian life means living according to the dictates of JESUS CHRIST and continuing therein by the help of the Holy Spirit. JESUS said in John 9:5, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world”. Also in John 8:12, JESUS said “I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”. These two scriptures show that to live a good Christian life, we need JESUS all the way to show us how to live the good Christian life. The following are tips to help in living a good Christian life.   Continue reading

Plant and Watch It Grow

by Yewande Olamiju

Reading from my primary 5 science textbook that a bean seed will grow in just under three days was a science experiment I was eager, extremely eager to try out. The biggest downer was that I had to wait for three whole days. In addition to this torturous waiting  (as it seemed to a then nine year old) I had to maintain the right conditions to ensure growth. Continue reading
