The Good Christian Life

What does it mean to live a good Christian life? Living a good Christian life means living according to the dictates of JESUS CHRIST and continuing therein by the help of the Holy Spirit. JESUS said in John 9:5, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world”. Also in John 8:12, JESUS said “I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”. These two scriptures show that to live a good Christian life, we need JESUS all the way to show us how to live the good Christian life. The following are tips to help in living a good Christian life.

Ø Follow JESUS example at all times JESUS says in John 13:15, “For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.” In 1 Cor. 11:1, Paul says, “Imitate me as I imitate CHRIST.” Eph. 5:1 says, “Be imitators of GOD as dear children.” If you just go to church, you will be a weak Christian and trials will make havoc of your life. But if you go to church and read the Word every time, you will be a strong Christian. The following scriptures will also help to live a good Christian life. Prov. 8:17-21; Psalms 1:1-3; John 14:21-27; James 1:2-8; 1 Thess. 5:16-18; 2 Tim. 1:6-7; Heb. 8:6, 10; Eph. 6:10-18; Prov. 4:20-23.

Ø READ and DO what the Bible James 1:22 says ‘But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.’ Matt. 4:4 – JESUS answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out the mouth of GOD.’ 2 Tim. 3:16, the bible also says that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

Ø Set time for effective and meaningful prayer Make intercession for people who do not pray enough for their own development, i.e. children, cousins, friends, enemies and family, etc. Eph. 1:16-23 shows an example of Paul praying for the church in Ephesus, “Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the GOD of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of HIM: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of HIS calling, and what the riches of the glory of HIS inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of HIS power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of HIS mighty power, Which HE wrought in CHRIST, when HE raised HIM from the dead, and set HIM at HIS own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under HIS feet, and gave HIM to be the head over all things to the church, Which is HIS body, the fulness of HIM that filleth all in all.

Ø Openly share the good news Remember, living the Christian life through your actions will show others that GOD must be working in your life. Plant the seed of salvation in the lives of others every day. Be an epistle in words and in deeds just like Paul said in 2 Cor. 3:2 which says “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men” and also in Matt. 5:16  “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Ø Practice what you preach Jesus gives us a very good example in Matthew 7:3-5 “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

The five tips above show that, living a good Christian life, GOD and HIS word are all we need.
