I Never Knew You

by Yewande Olamiju

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you (Matt 7:22-23)

The word translated knew speaks of intimacy with the Almighty.

Are you intimate with Christ? Does He know you? Have you opened up your life to Jesus? Is He allowed access to all of you?

Being known of God is not our public image or our reputation. It’s not evidenced by the miracles we perform in Jesus’ name. It’s not about our God-sponsored projects that has everyone talking (Matt 7:22 MSG) and neither does being fluent in Christianese equal knowing Jesus or deep love for Jesus .

Don’t let your schedule or day-to-day activities replace time spent with God. Don’t be distant from God. Don’t be a stranger. Come daily into His presence. Intimacy with God is something to be pursued because it just doesn’t happen. Intimacy comes from close and continuous contact and association. Cultivate and build your relationship with Jesus. Spend time with Him.

Don’t leave any doors in your heart barricaded to Jesus. Let down your defenses. Open up the door of your heart to Him. Let Him in. Share your life with Him. Share all of yourself with Him.

Examine yourself and see if there is any reason that will make Jesus tell you “I never knew you. We weren’t intimate.

It’s time to repent and return to your First Love, Jesus.
