And to keep me from being puffed up and too much elated by the exceeding greatness (preeminence) of these revelations, there was given me a thorn (a splinter) in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to rack and buffet and harass me, to keep me from being excessively exalted (2 Cor 12:7 AMP).
Sometimes we go through difficult times that we might not rely on ourselves but on God.
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 1:8-10, “We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us (2 Cor 1:8-10 NIV).
David also said, “It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees” (Psa 119:71NIV).
Be confident that those who wait on God renew their strength (Isa 40:31), God guards and keeps in perfect and constant peace those who commit themselves to Him, those who lean on Him and hope confidently in Him (Isa 26:3),
