God’s Answers to Your requests

Does God Hear Me?

Praying

Imagine this, you have a very good friend and you live in the same neighbourhood but you really never get to see each other but you talk almost every morning and sometimes at night, there’s a public holiday and your friend decides to visit you. You are beyond excited; you imagine catching up on details and sharing pleasantries for the entire day. Your friend arrives and after exchanging pleasantries, s/he keeps quiet, you try to say a few things to get a conversation going but s/he is too focused on his/her tab or blackberry or iPhone and only calls on you when something is going wrong. Praying to Receive

When we wonder “how should I pray”, we seldom look to the Bible for guidance. The truth, however, is that the Bible is packed with praying people, and we can learn much from their examples.

Sometimes, we have to dig through Scripture for models. We don’t always find an obvious tip-off, such as, “LORD, teach us to pray…” Luke 11:1. but instead, we can look for strengths and situations. Many Bible figures showed courage and faith, but others found themselves in situations that brought out qualities they didn’t know they had, just as your situation can do today.     Continue reading
